  • Leading 70 players and those tied for 70th place tee off from approximately 08:00

Sunday, 28 July

  • Championship Round 4
  • Leading 70 players (and ties) tee off from approximately 08:00
  • Gates open to the public at 07:00

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

The Championship will be a 72-hole stroke play event with 18 holes being played each day. A field of 144 competitors will be eligible to play in the Championship. The field shall include all exempt and qualified Amateurs. Players not qualified under any of the exempt categories listed under section 4 will be required to play an 18-hole stroke play qualifying round on Monday 22 July 2019.

The field will play one round on each of the first two days, after which the leading 70 players (and those who tie for 70th place) will go forward to the third and fourth rounds.

In the event of a tie for the first place there will be a hole-by-hole play- off.

PRIZE MONEY

The prize fund is $2,000,000 with the winner receiving $268,814. The leading Professional aged 60 years or over and completing 72 holes receives The Fred Daly Award (UK£3,000). The winner of the 2018 Senior Open is Miguel Angel Jiménez with a final round of 69 for a 12-under-par total of 276.

PRIZE GIVING

The Prize Giving will be held on the 18th green upon the conclusion of play (approximately 19:00) on Sunday 28 July.

PRACTICE

  • The practice range for the Championship will be located within the public village
  • The short game area is located next to the Clubhouse and the putting green is located in front of the Dormy House

CLOTHING AND WHAT TO WEAR

Is there a dress code? There is no dress code in public areas. Clothing and suitable footwear for the weather conditions should be worn. No jeans or trainers in hospitality.

The ground is uneven and particularly under wet conditions the ground may become slippery therefore appropriate footwear should be worn to avoid injury.

Don’t forget your sunscreen, cap and umbrella.

There will be a free Park & Ride service. Please refer to the Travel Information section on the website.

EVENT MOBILITY

Event Mobility provides electric scooters and manual wheelchairs at events nationwide for use by the disabled, elderly and mobility impaired. The Event Mobility Trailer & Tent will be located at the entrance gate. The electric scooters and manual wheelchairs are Free to hire, however, a donation to the Event Mobility Charity is expected to be made. Contact Number: 01386 725391

Event Mobility are located near the blue badge parking.

There is designated parking for Blue Badge Holders. Please refer to the Travel Information section on the website.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Etickets can be printed or used on a mobile phone. Souvenir tickets must be brought to the venue. Lost, stolen or damaged tickets cannot be replaced.

Tickets can also be purchased at the Box Office during the event which is located in the Welcome Pavilion and all Spectators will enter the site through the Welcome Pavilion.

Tickets sold at the gate are subject to availability, we suggest to buy in advance on line to avoid any disappointment. Please note that a higher price will apply for on the day sales.

The Ticket Collection point is also located at the Box Office within the Welcome Pavilion.

Under 16s are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a ticket holding adult.

Youth tickets are valid for admission to course on one day Thursday to Sunday, for young adults between 16 and 24 years inclusive. Ticket Prices Pre-Event Gate

PROGRAMMES

Programmes will be available for spectators to purchase from the Welcome Pavilion ticket box office and within the Official Merchandise Store in the Championship Village.

The cost of a programme including free drawsheet is £5.00.

The daily draw sheet can also be purchased on its own for £1.00 which includes the coursemap.

SPECTATOR VILLAGE & FACILITIES

Take a break from the links and spend some time at the Spectator Village. With a number of food and beverage options, interactive Kids Zone activities, various Exhibition units to browse. There will also be a Giant TV screen and Scoreboard, there is no need to miss any of the golf.

PUBLIC CATERING

There is Public catering located within the Tented Village and will serve a variety of food and drink.

Can I bring my own food and drink? No picnics / picnic hampers allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted.

SEATING AREAS

There are seating areas located in the Championship Village and on course catering areas.

Small Portable Lightweight, collapsible foldable camping chairs & Tripod Stools will be permitted.

EXHIBITORS

There will be a number of outlets located in the Tented Village:

BANKING

ATM by the Public Bar in the Championship Village.

PUBLIC CRÈCHE

There will not be a crèche at this event. There is a baby changing facility within the disabled toilet in the Championship Village.

Can I bring a child’s buggy/pushchair? Yes you can. However please be aware of uneven terrain.

COURSE

Spectators can move freely around the golf course but please stay outside the ropes. Controlled crossing points, which are clearly marked, should be used when crossing fairways.

ON-COURSE CATERING

There will be on-course catering facilities located in the following areas:

  • 10th Green
  • Between 14th Green & 15th Tee
  • Between 11th Green & 13th Green (also accessible from the 6th Green & 14th Tee)

LEADER BOARDS

Leader boards will be located in the following areas:

  • Hole 6 Back left of green
  • Hole 10 Short right of green, facing 7th green
  • Hole 11 Left of green.
  • Hole 13 Left of green.
  • Hole 14 Right of green.
  • Hole 15 Left of green, visible from 2nd fairway.
  • Hole 16 Left of green.
  • Hole 17 Short left of green.
  • Hole 18 Large electronic screen

GRANDSTANDS

Free Spectator grandstands are available in the following locations:

  • 1st Tee (approx. 200 seats)
  • 18th Green (approx 450 seats)
  • Driving Range
  • No Reserved Grandstand seating.

Course grandstand seating is free and available to the public on a first come first served basis.

NO ALCOHOL OR SMOKING in the grandstands is permitted and spectators are kindly asked not to stand up on the stands during play.

A dedicated wheelchair viewing area will once again be positioned at the front of the 18th grandstand and beside the 1st tee.

MARSHALS

The Senior Open Marshals are managed by Colin McGlue, Chief Marshal. The Marshals are extremely influential in helping to ensure that play runs smoothly.

The purpose of a marshal is to ensure that the competitors are able to compete under the best conditions. Many of the marshals have volunteered at a number of other golf events across the country and have a good understanding of the appropriate golfing etiquette.

COURSE SHUTTLE

There will not be a public shuttle service around the course.

TOILETS

Public toilets will be available in the Tented Village behind the Main Scoreboard as follows:

  • Gents Toilet
  • Ladies Toilet
  • Disabled Toilet

On course toilets:

  • Locations to be advised.

TELEVISION TIMES

LOST PROPERTY

Lost property that has been found on-course or in the tented village will be handed in to the Championship Office at the end of each day. The Championship Office is located beside the Tented Village near to the Clubhouse.

LEFT LUGGAGE

There will not be a left luggage facility at this tournament.

Can I bring a bag / rucksack? Bags and rucksacks are permitted at the Championship and there are no restrictions on size. Please note that all bags are subjected to a search on entry.

EVACUATION PROCEDURE

If it is necessary to evacuate the site, please follow the instructions of the course marshals, volunteers and event officials in an orderly fashion.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY FOR SPECTATORS

Observe the leaderboards and big screens throughout the golf course for signs that will appear prior to inclement weather moving into the area. When this sign appears, Marshals will be instructed to start clearing grandstands and spectators are advised to take precautions PRIOR to play being suspended. If the siren sounds, seek shelter immediately.

AVOID THE FOLLOWING:

  • Open areas
  • Hilltops / high places
  • Isolated trees
  • Golf carts
  • Wire fences

FIRST AID

Medic 1 are the official First Aid support on-site at the Senior Open and located in the Tented Village or please ask a Marshal or Championship Official.

MOBILE PHONE ZONES

Spectators are prohibited from using mobile phones whilst on the golf course. Mobile Phones can only be used in the Tented Village. Mobile Phone Zones will be signposted accordingly.

Mobile Phone Policy

  • Mobile devices are permitted but must be on silent
  • Calls are only permitted in designated “MOBILE PHONES ZONES”.
  • Data use is permitted outside these areas but please be respectful to the players and spectators around you
  • No video recording permitted at any time
  • No photographs permitted during competition round (i.e. after Wednesday)
  • Violation may result in the confiscation of your mobile device or removal from the tournament

CAMERAS

  • Cameras are permitted ONLY on Practice Days – Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Cameras are NOT permitted on Match Days – Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
  • Although mobile phones are permitted on all five days of the event, the use of the camera facility is as per the above.

PETS

No pets are allowed, with the exception of trained guide dogs, on the course and we respectfully suggest that you do not leave your pet in the car.
